This decommissioned ERA site remains active temporarily to support our final migration steps to https://ualberta.scholaris.ca, ERA's new home. All new collections and items, including Spring 2025 theses, are at that site. For assistance, please contact erahelp@ualberta.ca.
Theses and Dissertations
This collection contains theses and dissertations of graduate students of the University of Alberta. The collection contains a very large number of theses electronically available that were granted from 1947 to 2009, 90% of theses granted from 2009-2014, and 100% of theses granted from April 2014 to the present (as long as the theses are not under temporary embargo by agreement with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies). IMPORTANT NOTE: To conduct a comprehensive search of all UofA theses granted and in University of Alberta Libraries collections, search the library catalogue at www.library.ualberta.ca - you may search by Author, Title, Keyword, or search by Department.
To retrieve all theses and dissertations associated with a specific department from the library catalogue, choose 'Advanced' and keyword search "university of alberta dept of english" OR "university of alberta department of english" (for example). Past graduates who wish to have their thesis or dissertation added to this collection can contact us at erahelp@ualberta.ca.

Spring 2023
The study of energetic particles of solar and cosmic origin, and those accelerated in the planetary magnetopause, is integral to our developing understanding of the physical processes affecting space radiation in near-Earth space, interplanetary space, and Earth's upper atmosphere. In particular,...

Design of Low-intensity Pulsed Ultrasound Device, Intensity Sensor and Its Application to Enhance Vaccine Production
DownloadFall 2016
The application of low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) technology for therapy has become a promising interdisciplinary research field in biomedical engineering. This thesis covers two important topics in the field: LIPUS design and its biological applications. In therapeutic ultrasound...

Design of Low-Profile Multi-Band Microwave Antennas and Components Using Metamaterial-Based Electromagnetic Bandgap Structures
DownloadSpring 2023
This thesis investigates applications of metamaterial-based electromagnetic bandgap structures, or MTM-EBGs. MTM-EBGs are uniplanar, compact, and often fully printable, making them ideal candidates for integration into planar topologies. This differs from many other metamaterial-based structures...

Design of Macromolecular Anti-cancer Drug Delivery Systems using Molecular Dynamics Simulation
DownloadFall 2015
In recent years, the application of self-associating block copolymer based drug delivery systems has attracted increasing attention as nano-sized carriers for the encapsulation and the controlled delivery of water insoluble drugs. Most of the drug formulations are based on the “trial and error”...

Spring 2010
In recent years, the use of self-associating block copolymer based drug delivery systems have attracted increasing attention as nanoscopic carriers for the encapsulation and the controlled delivery of water insoluble drugs. Currently, most of the drug formulations proceed by “trial and error”...

Spring 2019
The bandwidth equipment for future high-data-rate wireless communication systems can only be met by development of these systems at millimeter wave frequencies and beyond because of bandwidth scarcity in crowded low GHz frequencies. In the millimeter wave spectrum, 60-GHz band offers 7-GHz of...
