Challenges are rooted in individual bias, lack of resources, and western academic structures. Recommendations
include a need for systemic level changes regarding the use, respect, and understanding of Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing, fostering safe and respectful spaces for reflection and conversation, and identifying strategies for practicing and supporting reconciliation.
