Introducing Intellectual Freedom Courses into the Canadian LIS Curriculum

• For the first time in the history of Canadian library education, intellectual freedom courses are part of the curriculum. In September 2000, Dr. Ann Curry introduced a course entitled \"Current Trends in Library and Information Service: Issues in Intellectual Freedom\" at the School of Library, Archival and Information Studies, University of British Columbia.(FN1) And in January 2001, I introduced a course called \"Contemporary Issues in Library and Information Studies: Intellectual Freedom and Social Responsibility in Canadian Libraries\" at the School of Library and Information Studies, University of Alberta.
