Introducing Intellectual Freedom Courses into the Canadian LIS Curriculum

For the first time in the history of Canadian library education, intellectual freedom courses are part of the curriculum. In September 2000, Dr. Ann Curry introduced a course entitled \"Current Trends in Library and Information Service: Issues in Intellectual Freedom\" at the School of Library, Archival and Information Studies, University of British Columbia.(FN1) And in January 2001, I introduced a course called \"Contemporary Issues in Library and Information Studies: Intellectual Freedom and Social Responsibility in Canadian Libraries\" at the School of Library and Information Studies, University of Alberta.
