This report is a summary of a gathering of 35 researchers at the University of Alberta in 1996 to develop a set of guidelines for mapping the human influence in the montane region of Jasper National Park. Participants were from a wide variety of backgrounds: anthropology, archaeology, ecology, history, literature, information science/GIS. This gathering solidified a network of researchers with interests in the mountain region.
