SSHRC Awarded IDG 2019: The research outlined in this proposal focuses on a new and exciting direction in my research: examining how group leaders can strategically modify their rhetoric to strengthen follower support for collective change. Drawing on my expertise in social identity and leadership, I will start this novel research by examining how leaders can use social identity rhetoric to evoke (or depress) followers’ support for collective change.
