Theses and Dissertations
This collection contains theses and dissertations of graduate students of the University of Alberta. The collection contains a very large number of theses electronically available that were granted from 1947 to 2009, 90% of theses granted from 2009-2014, and 100% of theses granted from April 2014 to the present (as long as the theses are not under temporary embargo by agreement with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies). IMPORTANT NOTE: To conduct a comprehensive search of all UofA theses granted and in University of Alberta Libraries collections, search the library catalogue at www.library.ualberta.ca - you may search by Author, Title, Keyword, or search by Department.
To retrieve all theses and dissertations associated with a specific department from the library catalogue, choose 'Advanced' and keyword search "university of alberta dept of english" OR "university of alberta department of english" (for example). Past graduates who wish to have their thesis or dissertation added to this collection can contact us at erahelp@ualberta.ca.

Three-Dimensional Bookstein Shape Coordinates and Functional Morphology of Passive Suspension Feeding in Composita (Brachiopoda, Athyridida)
DownloadSpring 2014
The effects of shell morphology on passive fluid circulation are examined in Late Mississippian through Late Pennsylvanian Composita (Brachiopoda, Athyridida) from Texas, Kentucky, and Iowa. The first three-dimensional derivation of Bookstein shape coordinates is given in association with an...

Fall 2018
Vortex generators (VGs) are widely applied passive flow control devices that are proven to have significant effect in enhancing the performance of an aerodynamic system. With the recent development in non-intrusive measurement techniques, and computing ability, it has become possible to measure...

Three-Dimensional Electromagnetic Imaging of Porphyry Copper Deposits with MT and ZTEM Data
DownloadFall 2015
This thesis investigates the use of the airborne Z-Axis Tipper Electromagnetic (ZTEM) and ground-based magnetotelluric (MT) exploration techniques to image electrical resistivity contrasts associated with porphyry copper deposits. These techniques were individually used to construct...

Three-dimensional kinematic model of a task specific motion based on instantaneous screw axis theory developed for golf motion analysis
DownloadFall 2009
A large number of studies have concentrated on golf swing biomechanics, ranging from planar rigid-link models to 3D kinematic analysis. A promising technique, instantaneous screw axis (ISA) theory, has not been covered in the literature and could provide a better true segment rotation...

Three-Dimensional Numerical Investigation on Velocity Field and Mixing Characteristics at Channel Junctions
DownloadFall 2014
Channel confluence is an important component in river systems. The flow dynamics and mixing processes associated with such geometry are highly three-dimensional and complicated. In this study, a commercial software, ANSYS CFX, was employed to investigate the flow structures and mixing...
