This decommissioned ERA site remains active temporarily to support our final migration steps to https://ualberta.scholaris.ca, ERA's new home. All new collections and items, including Spring 2025 theses, are at that site. For assistance, please contact erahelp@ualberta.ca.
Theses and Dissertations
This collection contains theses and dissertations of graduate students of the University of Alberta. The collection contains a very large number of theses electronically available that were granted from 1947 to 2009, 90% of theses granted from 2009-2014, and 100% of theses granted from April 2014 to the present (as long as the theses are not under temporary embargo by agreement with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies). IMPORTANT NOTE: To conduct a comprehensive search of all UofA theses granted and in University of Alberta Libraries collections, search the library catalogue at www.library.ualberta.ca - you may search by Author, Title, Keyword, or search by Department.
To retrieve all theses and dissertations associated with a specific department from the library catalogue, choose 'Advanced' and keyword search "university of alberta dept of english" OR "university of alberta department of english" (for example). Past graduates who wish to have their thesis or dissertation added to this collection can contact us at erahelp@ualberta.ca.

Spectral Editing for Detection of Oncologically Relevant Metabolites with In-Vivo Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy at 9.4 T
DownloadFall 2019
Short echo time (TE) magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) techniques with spectral fitting are commonly employed approaches for brain metabolite quantification at 9.4 T. However, there is a significant overlap of peaks in short-TE spectra, even at 9.4 T. To better resolve resonances, spectral...

Spring 2022
The fifth-generation (5G) and beyond wireless networks aim to increase the current data rates to more than 10 Gbit/s. Thus, the spectrum crunch necessitates increasing spectral efficiency (SE). Key non-orthogonal technologies for this goal are (I) full-duplex wireless, (II) generalized...

Spectral Factorization of Matrices of Laurent Polynomials and Construction of Quasi-tight Framelets
DownloadFall 2018
As a generalization of orthonormal wavelets, tight framelets (also called tight wavelet frames) are of importance in both wavelet analysis and applied sciences due to their many desirable properties in applications. However, tight framelets are often derived from particular refinable functions...

Fall 2009
Employing a combination of biochemistry and chemometrics, the field of metabolomics has the potential to reveal some very significant insights into biological pathways related to drugs and diseases. This thesis explores this field in its depths; specifically focusing on Nuclear Magnetic Resonance...

Fall 2018
This research was motivated by the common recovery of yellow diamonds from kimberlites at Chidliak, Ekati and Qilalugaq in recent years, giving Canada the potential to become the new major source of fancy yellow diamonds. This thesis focuses on the analysis of yellow diamonds recovered from the...
