Bitumen extracted from Canadian oil-sands has a high viscosity, which limits its transportation. Field upgrading has become an option to overcome that limitation, without having to dilute the bitumen. During the field upgrading of bitumen, solvent deasphalting in combination with thermal cracking...

Identify Metamorphic and Primary Multiple Sulfur Isotopic Signatures in the 2.7 Ga Pyrite Nodules from the Southwestern Superior Province (Minnesota, USA)
DownloadSpring 2016
Sulfur isotopes of some Archean rocks show unique mass independent fractionation (S-MIF) signatures, which are generally considered to have been produced by UV radiolysis on volcanic SO2 in the oxygen-free Archean atmosphere. Based on the distinct S-MIF signals of different sulfur sources (i.e.,...

DownloadSpring 2021
This study looked at the spatial and temporal patterns of lightning-ignited wildfires in Western Canada from 1981 to 2018. Studying patterns of lightning fires over space and time can provide great insight into understanding, highlighting, and quantifying these sequences. This is of great...

Identifying and Assessing the Yield Implications of Forest Canopy Gaps in Forest Management Using Full Feature LiDAR
DownloadSpring 2015
Gaps in the forest canopy are common in boreal aspen, spruce and mixedwood stands and can negatively affect forest volume. Data from four Alberta Vegetation Inventory (AVI) polygons, two aspen (Populus tremuloides) and two white spruce (Picea glauca), were analysed to determine how forest volume...
