Effects of Negative Valve Overlap on HCCI Combustion and its use in the Control of HCCI Combustion Timing
DownloadFall 2014
Homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) combustion can produce higher efficiencies and lower emissions when compared to tradition spark or compression ignition engines. This study reports an experimental investigation into the effects of valve timings on HCCI combustion conditions. Using a...

Effects of Non-allergen Ingredients on Functional Properties and Sensory Acceptability of Selected Processed Meat Products
DownloadFall 2019
Consumer interest in foods with clean labels and ingredients (allergen-free, non-GMO status, recognizable ingredients, minimally processed and natural products that contain no added preservatives or additives) continues to be a major trend within the food industry. Many non-meat ingredients...

Fall 2014
To investigate the effects of non-hydrocarbon liquids found in the produced water following fracturing operations on particulate emissions of flares, a small-scale experiment with methane diffusion flame was used. Size distributions, mass-mobility relationships, effective density, volatility, and...

Fall 2020
Spacetime—the union of space and time—is both the actor and the stage during physical processes in our fascinating Universe. In Lorentz invariant local theories, the existence of a maximum signalling speed (the “speed of light”) determines a notion of causality in spacetime, distinguishing the...

Effects of Non-segregated Tailings, Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Elemental Sulphur on Growth of Plants in Oil Sands Reclamation Soils
DownloadSpring 2021
Oil sands mining in northeastern Alberta, Canada, has disturbed large areas of the northern boreal forest. These disturbed areas must be reclaimed to forest ecosystems with equivalent land capability after mining closure. The extraction of bitumen is carried out with recycled hot water containing...
