This decommissioned ERA site remains active temporarily to support our final migration steps to https://ualberta.scholaris.ca, ERA's new home. All new collections and items, including Spring 2025 theses, are at that site. For assistance, please contact erahelp@ualberta.ca.
Theses and Dissertations
This collection contains theses and dissertations of graduate students of the University of Alberta. The collection contains a very large number of theses electronically available that were granted from 1947 to 2009, 90% of theses granted from 2009-2014, and 100% of theses granted from April 2014 to the present (as long as the theses are not under temporary embargo by agreement with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies). IMPORTANT NOTE: To conduct a comprehensive search of all UofA theses granted and in University of Alberta Libraries collections, search the library catalogue at www.library.ualberta.ca - you may search by Author, Title, Keyword, or search by Department.
To retrieve all theses and dissertations associated with a specific department from the library catalogue, choose 'Advanced' and keyword search "university of alberta dept of english" OR "university of alberta department of english" (for example). Past graduates who wish to have their thesis or dissertation added to this collection can contact us at erahelp@ualberta.ca.

A Study of the Detection of Long-Lived Charged Particles With an Auxiliary Detector Above the ATLAS Muon Spectrometer (ADAM)
DownloadFall 2023
The Auxiliary Detector above the ATLAS Muon spectrometer (ADAM) is a proposed particle detector. Its function is to detect the decay products of beyond the standard model (BSM) particles produced in the 14 TeV proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) which evade detection by...

Physics From Beyond the Standard Model: Exotic Matter Searches at the LHC with the MoEDAL-MAPP Experiment
DownloadFall 2021
MoEDAL-MAPP is a pioneering experiment designed to search for highly ionizing (HIP) and feebly interacting (FIP) particle avatars of new physics in p–p and heavy-ion collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The Monopole and Exotics Detector At the LHC (MoEDAL) baseline detector first took...

Searches for Magnetic Monopoles and Highly Ionising Particles at 13 TeV at the LHC with MoEDAL
DownloadFall 2023
The standard model of particle physics describes the experimental data collected to date remarkably well. However, this theory (the standard model of particle physics) does not provide a complete description of reality. What is dark matter and what is the origin of dark matter? How do we explain...

Searching for Long Lived Particles with ADAM (Auxiliary Detector above the ATLAS Muon Spectrometer)
DownloadFall 2024
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the world’s largest particle accelerator, delivering proton-proton (p − p) collisions to various experiments, including ATLAS (A Toroidal LHC ApparatuS). The proposed Auxiliary Detector above the ATLAS Muon Spectrometer (ADAM) aims to expand the physics...

Searching for Non-Standard Model Highly Ionizing Processes and Long-Lived Neutral Particles With the MoEDAL-MAPP Detector
DownloadFall 2023
The Monopole & Exotics Detector at the Large Hadron Collider (MoEDAL) is designed to search for highly ionizing particle avatars of physics beyond the Standard Model of particle physics. Phase 1 of the MoEDAL Apparatus for Penetrating Particles (MAPP-1) upgrade is currently being installed to...
