Saskatoon berries grow across Northern Canada and are used both as a food source and as a traditional medicine. The berries start out green and are a deep purple when they are ripe.

This is the skin of a 36,500 year old bison that was preserved in permafrost and found by Shane Van Loon in 2007.

This steppe bison skull is at the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre in Yellowknife, NWT. The bison skeleton with skin, hair and flesh attached was found by Shane Van Loon in 2007 emerging from an eroding riverbank. The skull is 36,500 years old.
