Technical report TR03-11. Biological systems for spatial navigation provide fine-tuned mechanisms for orientation and complex navigational behavior. Experimentation in human beings is aimed to discover perceptual cues utilized to perform navigation in Virtual Reality environments. Such environments are required to have special characteristics to allow the measurement of brain activity and behavior in real time, and to provide flexibility for creating scenarios with perceptual stimuli of high quality. This paper describes a reconfigurable VR tool and a markup language created for this purpose. The capabilities and features of the architecture are detailed and the possibility of extending the system to other experimental domains is discussed. | TRID-ID TR03-11
