Master's thesis. This historical study of Inuit education, language and cultural programs, as well as relations between the Inuit and the federal and provincial governments in Nouveau Quebec, reviews the relationship between the aboriginal people and the explorers, missionaries, fur traders and Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and the dominance of English or French as well as the role of the native languages.
