SSHRC CG awarded 2024: This application seeks funding for the 53rd Annual Scientific and Educational Meeting of the Canadian Association on Gerontology (CAG). The three-day conference entitled "AGEnts of Change: Unraveling Complexity and Advancing Transformation" recognizes the potential for the producers of gerontological research to enact transformative change through advancements in knowledge, practice, and policy. Our interest in unraveling complexity will highlight intersectional research that uses novel theoretical and empirical approaches to examine the causes and consequences of inequity. The conference will include three keynote presenters who will share their work in transforming gerontological research by examining the complex ways race, ethnicity, immigration, socioeconomic status, and gender impact older adults and their care providers. Delegates will include researchers, students, practitioners, policy-makers, older adults, community members, and other highly qualified personnel (HQP) representing the CAG's five divisions -- Educational Gerontology, Psychology, Health & Biological Sciences, Social Science, and Social Policy and Practice -- and will be drawn from diverse disciplinary academic backgrounds; professional training (social work, community organizations, health and rehabilitation science); and sectors (academia, research, non-profit, industry; professional associations and community). The conference is anticipated to include 500 presentations across the invited keynotes and the submitted oral, poster and symposium presentations. Dissemination activities include refereed, quarterly open-access publication of the Canadian Journal on Aging/La Revue Canadienne du vieillissement and webinar presentations.
