  • SoTL Canada recently conducted a survey to gain insight into the SoTL activities of faculty and staff at institutions of higher learning across Canada. In addition to demographic and institutional characteristics, participants (n=351) were asked questions regarding the type of SoTL work they are involved in; how SoTL research is being conducted in collaboration with students and colleagues; the integration of SoTL into job descriptions at institutions of higher learning across Canada; the level and type of funding received by SoTL practitioners in Canada; the methods through which SoTL research is disseminated in Canada; and the diversity of research being conducted by SoTL practitioners in Canada, including SoTL and non-SoTL. The information gathered from this survey was used to create a comprehensive “map” of SoTL activities across Canada. It is anticipated that this knowledge will yield many positive outcomes, such as facilitating collaborations, and leveraging expertise.
