Mapping the Retracted Literature in Pharmacy and Drug Publications

  • Author(s) / Creator(s)
  • Once a paper has been retracted, do people still cite the article? Are they citing it and reporting the retraction or are they continuing to use the reported results? The impact of retracted publications have been studied in a variety of disciplines using various methods often with limited reporting structures for their methods (e.g. not including full search strategies). This project aims to develop a replicable search strategy for tracking retracted publications (and their citations) by reviewing the literature and contacting authors for detailed information regarding their methodology. This ongoing project will be comprised of two parts. After a systematic reporting structure has been established (Part 1), this method will then be applied to investigate the impact of retracted papers and their citations in the pharmacy and drug literature (Part 2).
