SSHRC Awarded IDG 2016: There is sparse knowledge of the goal orientations of students in professional education programs and practising professionals who are graduates of those programs. Even less is known about the relationships between goal orientations and personal and professional outcomes (e.g., well-being, quality of life, professional satisfaction, engagement in continuous professional learning) during and following professional education. This program of research aims to extend achievement goal theory to populations that have remained understudied: students and graduates of professional education programs.
