This article explores the impact of Roman imperialism on the water infrastructure of Humayma, Jordan (Nabataean Hawara, Roman Hauarra). In particular, the uniqueness of a large water reservoir within the Roman auxiliary fort at the site is explored in the context of the site as a strategic way point for troop movements in the Province of Arabia. The modification of a previously free-flowing Nabataean aqueduct system with a stop-cock is also discussed as a form of control over water resources of the settlement by Roman forces.
