Intersectionality in action partnership: Co-learning for inclusive community outcomes

  • SSHRC PDG awarded 2024: Intersectionality captures how inequality, privilege, and marginalization are formed at the confluence of gender, racialized status, class, sexuality, ability, and other social dimensions. Academics, policymakers, and the community sector have increasingly recognized the conceptual power of intersectionality. However, they continue to grapple with putting it into practice toward more inclusive, context specific, and actionable research. The Intersectionality in Action Partnership (IAP) addresses this gap by bringing together community organizations and academic researchers to explore the strengths and challenges of integrating intersectionality into community-based participatory research (CBPR). challenges of integrating intersectionality into community-based participatory research (CBPR).
