\"From Words to Actions : Alberta Can Afford a Real Poverty Reduction Strategy\" contains updated information on the extent of child and family poverty in Alberta. Also highlighted are the many worthwhile programs, services and initiatives already underway that contribute to reducing poverty. This report makes the case that Alberta can readily afford a poverty reduction strategy. According to the government’s own numbers, were Albertans to be taxed at the same level as the second lowest taxed province, $10.7 billion in additional revenue would be generated (Government of Alberta, 2013a). This report outlines modest changes to the personal and corporate tax systems that would generate the revenues required to properly fund key poverty solutions. Cost estimates for these solutions are also available in this report.
