Building off the success of Science Literacy Week 2016 celebrations, the University of Alberta Libraries expanded in 2017, partnering with over 20 STEM groups and coordinating 53 different events that included giveaways, demonstrations, experiments and tutorials. Highlights of the week included live animal visits, molecular gastronomy, plant triage, 3D printing and more - all of which provided library visitors with exciting opportunity to engage with science literacy. Altogether these resulted in a spike of visitors to the library and the generation of much buzz among the campus community. Join us as we discuss the challenges and achievements in bringing Science Literacy Week 2017 together through novel partnerships with the science and technology community, unconventional marketing, and exposing STEM research through fun and exploratory methods.
