Spring 2014
Introduction of a binding or reacting liquid into a gas-solid fluidized bed is common in industrial processes (e.g. fluid coking, catalytic cracking, granulation). Ability of the liquid to spread and the attractive effect on particles due to liquid bridge formation alter the fluidization behavior...

Spring 2017
In this dissertation we focus on numerical models of rotating anelastic convection, in particular the entropy boundary condition, with application to the giant planets. The first chapter details atmospheric features of giant planets and the numerical formulation of anelastic convection. The...

Simultaneous Gross Error Detection and Data Reconciliation Using Gaussian Mixture Distribution
DownloadFall 2017
The intensive competitive nature of the world market, the growing significance of quality products, and the increasing importance and the number of safety and environmental issues and regulations, respectively, have increased the need for fast and low-cost changes in chemical processes to enhance...

Simultaneous Measurement of Blood Flow and Oxygen Consumption Immediately Post-Exercise with Magnetic Resonance Imaging
DownloadFall 2014
Invasively measuring blood flow and oxygen consumption during exercise has been used to help advance performance, stratify fitness levels and most importantly to aid in clinical diagnoses and track disease or recovery progression. There is currently no non-invasive method for measuring skeletal...

Simultaneous measurement of protein and energy metabolism and application to determine lysine requirements in sows
DownloadSpring 2011
Simultaneous measurements of energy and protein metabolism can provide valuable information about their interactions. Dietary lysine is limiting in typical feedstuffs fed to swine and, therefore, limits protein synthesis. Current recommendations for dietary amino acid and energy intakes may not...
