Theses and Dissertations
This collection contains theses and dissertations of graduate students of the University of Alberta. The collection contains a very large number of theses electronically available that were granted from 1947 to 2009, 90% of theses granted from 2009-2014, and 100% of theses granted from April 2014 to the present (as long as the theses are not under temporary embargo by agreement with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies). IMPORTANT NOTE: To conduct a comprehensive search of all UofA theses granted and in University of Alberta Libraries collections, search the library catalogue at www.library.ualberta.ca - you may search by Author, Title, Keyword, or search by Department.
To retrieve all theses and dissertations associated with a specific department from the library catalogue, choose 'Advanced' and keyword search "university of alberta dept of english" OR "university of alberta department of english" (for example). Past graduates who wish to have their thesis or dissertation added to this collection can contact us at erahelp@ualberta.ca.

Geochemistry, Geochronology, and Fluid Inclusion Study of the Newton Epithermal Gold, and Morrison Porphyry Copper Deposits, British Columbia
DownloadFall 2015
Petrologic, geochemical, geochronological, and fluid inclusion studies were conducted on the Newton epithermal and Morrison porphyry deposits in central British Columbia, as a part of a large collaborative research project to combine geological, ZTEM, magnetotelluric, and magnetic studies, in...

Geochronological and geochemical constraints on the origin of the Paleoproterozoic Union Island Group mafic magmatism, East Arm Basin, N.W.T.
DownloadFall 2017
The Slave craton underwent widespread extension during the Paleoproterozoic. In the southern Slave craton, this extension is manifest in multiple periods of continental mafic magmatism emplaced between 2.3–2.2 Ga and prior to 2.0–1.9 Ga calc-alkaline magmatism of the Taltson and Thelon zones...

Geochronology and bulk sediment geochemistry of the Late Cretaceous maar lake sedimentary fill of the Wombat kimberlite pipe, subarctic Canada
DownloadSpring 2020
The Wombat pipe (64.918° N, 110.447° W) is a diamondiferous kimberlite in the Lac de Gras kimberlite field of Northwest Territories, Canada. Two drill cores, CH93-29 and 00-05, intersect the Wombat crater facies and include 195 m of well preserved, undisturbed lake sediment fill. Bulk sediment...

Geochronology and Trace Element Characteristics of Pyrite from Selected Carbonate Hosted Pb-Zn Ore Deposits
DownloadFall 2012
Carbonate-hosted ore deposits, such as Mississippi Valley-type (MVT), and Irish-type deposits, are a major class of Pb-Zn ores. Due to the mineralogy of these deposits, numerical constraints on the timing of mineralization are few. This thesis investigates pyrite Re-Os geochronology for dating...

Geochronology, Isotope Geochemistry, and Molybdenum Distribution in the Central African Copperbelt: Examples from Chibuluma West, Kamoa, and Kipushi
DownloadSpring 2019
The Chibuluma West, Kamoa, and Kipushi stratiform deposits of the Central African Copperbelt have been evaluated using a series of geochemical techniques to better constrain the timing and origin of these deposits, with relevance to the origin of the Copperbelt as a whole. Petrographic, isotopic...

Geochronology, Petrography, Geochemical Constraints, and Fluid Characterization of the Buriticá Gold Deposit, Antioquia Department, Colombia
DownloadFall 2011
Buriticá is a low- to intermediate-sulfidation epithermal gold deposit located 75 km north of Medellín, in Colombia. It is hosted by the Buriticá andesite porphyry, a shallow intrusive rock dated at 7.41 ± 0.40 Ma (40Ar/39Ar on hornblende), which intrudes the Cretaceous Cañasgordas Group and...
