This decommissioned ERA site remains active temporarily to support our final migration steps to https://ualberta.scholaris.ca, ERA's new home. All new collections and items, including Spring 2025 theses, are at that site. For assistance, please contact erahelp@ualberta.ca.
Theses and Dissertations
This collection contains theses and dissertations of graduate students of the University of Alberta. The collection contains a very large number of theses electronically available that were granted from 1947 to 2009, 90% of theses granted from 2009-2014, and 100% of theses granted from April 2014 to the present (as long as the theses are not under temporary embargo by agreement with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies). IMPORTANT NOTE: To conduct a comprehensive search of all UofA theses granted and in University of Alberta Libraries collections, search the library catalogue at www.library.ualberta.ca - you may search by Author, Title, Keyword, or search by Department.
To retrieve all theses and dissertations associated with a specific department from the library catalogue, choose 'Advanced' and keyword search "university of alberta dept of english" OR "university of alberta department of english" (for example). Past graduates who wish to have their thesis or dissertation added to this collection can contact us at erahelp@ualberta.ca.

EFFECTS OF MICRO SITES AND AMENDMENTS ON NEAR SURFACE SOIL TEMPERATURE AND VOLUMETRIC WATER CONTENT TO ENHANCE REVEGETATION
DownloadFall 2015
Land reclamation requires successful germination, emergence and establishment of desired plant species. Seed and micro sites, often lacking in disturbed ecosystems, can be limiting factors for germination and plant establishment. Micro sites, or safe sites, are required to reduce or prevent soil...

Effects of Microemulsion and Shut-in Time on Well Performance: A comparative Field, Laboratory and Simulation Study
DownloadFall 2020
Montney Formation is well-known as a world-class unconventional resource, covering approximately 130,000 km2 located on the border between the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia. In last decade, horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing technologies have been the key to unlock the...

Effects of Mineral Nutrition and Iron Supply on Growth and Physiological Responses of Selected Boreal Plant Species to Root Zone pH
DownloadSpring 2018
High soil pH can aggravate the effects of water deficit stress, inhibit root growth, and reduce the availability of essential elements to plants, especially iron. Iron deficiency can severely decrease plant growth and yield and result in plant mortality. In my study, I examined the effects of...

Spring 2019
In oil sands extraction, the removal of heavy materials from a bitumen feed is often facilitated by solvent addition treatment processes. These processes mix solvent with bitumen feed to cause the precipitation of heavy products. The settling properties of these heavy products as they separate...

Effects of Mo and B additives on hardness and the resistance of Cu-Ni alloy to wear, corrosion and corrosive wear
DownloadSpring 2020
Due to its corrosion resistance, conductivity, and modifiable mechanical properties, CuNi alloy has found a wide range of applications, especially in the marine environment. It is highly desired if the mechanical strength and wear resistance of CuNi alloy can reach a level comparable to that of...
