The Circumpolar Digital Image Collection is a collection of photos, slides, other images and contributions shared by many of the University of Alberta’s polar researchers. Landing gear on many small planes used in the Arctic can be switched from floats or pontoons to skis or wheels. These floats had been drawn up on the bank of the Chena River at Fairbanks, Alaska.

Over the July 10 - 12 weekend Yellowknife hosted the annual Midnight Sun Fly-in. There were many float planes at the old Wardair Dock, as well as overhead.

A creek runs through the Hudson Bay Slough in Fort George Park in Prince George, B.C., and discharges into the Fraser River. On this day the river was so high that it had flooded the creek mouth, backing water up through Fort George Park. Fraser River is in the background.

The gardens and park at Peterhof are extensive. This is one of many formal plantings with geometric patterns in pinks and mauves cut directly into the lawn grass. The three tiered fountain in the background is one of many in the park.
