My research in looks at the potentials of the body in dance and somatic practices as a site for embodied theory. It touches on the nexus of several centres of thought, including embodiment, representation, being and knowing. The research is slippery in its concepts and thus slippery in the attempt to get it into words, which of course are always necessary. This research opens a space that challenges the privileging of theory as solely the product of the mind and looks at the expansion of knowledges that can be sourced by deepening the conversation between embodied artistic practice and critical thinking and how this might best be expressed. The intra-active entanglement of theory, practice and methodology makes space for something other, something new, something “betwixt and between” as we formulate new understandings of (w)ho(w) we are in the world. // Program of study: PhD // Faculty/Department: Drama // Place of creation: Edmonton // Award: Semi-Finalist, Images of Research Competition 2019
