This document provides a set of guidelines and suggestions for structuring the Research Proposal module of a CIHR Open Operating Grant Program application. Ideas and tips from experienced investigators and CIHR review panel members are incorporated, to assist in preparing a Research Proposal document that is scientifically compelling. As well, tips and examples on writing style and basic design principles are included, to assist in preparing a document that is easy for reviewers to read and understand. These guidelines may be particularly useful to applicants, internal reviewers and grant application editors.
