This case study focused on the relocation of an institutional, hospital-like long-term care facility to a purpose-built, cottage-style facility. Information was collected from residents, family caregivers, and staff prior to the move, 4 months after and 12 months after the move. Key informant interviews were also conducted. The physical and social/care environments in both facilities and the impact of changing environments on residents, family caregivers, and staff are examined.
