Crease or wrinkle recovery refers to the ability for a creased fabric to recover to its original shape over a certain period of time. It is one of the essential performance parameters for assessing fabric usability. The test method is standardized by the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists as AATCC Test Method (TM) 66-2008.1 The Shirley crease recovery tester2 and the Monsanto wrinkle recovery tester3 were used, in which a test specimen is folded and compressed by a loading device for a certain period of time to create a sharp crease/ wrinkle. The test specimen was then transferred to a protractor to measure the angle change in a given period. The parameter for evaluating the fabric crease recovery property is the wrinkle recovery angle (WRA) after the 5-min recovery period. These testers require human interventions for transferring the folded specimen, which may disturb the initial recovery angle.
