Frame Lake in Yellowknife, NWT was, historically, a Dene fish camp. Since about 1930, the lake has been steadily polluted until, today, winter oxygen levels are too low to support a fish population. Frame Lake is a dead lake. A collaboration of interested groups including Northwest Territories Environment and Natural Resources and the City of Yellowknife are now working together to reclaim the lake. Saturday July 11, 2015 was a lake and shoreline clean up day. The garbage in this photograph was some of that removed from the lake that day.
