Supplementary files for "A Comparison of Four Vowel Overlap Measures"

• The files contained in this deposit are the supplementary files for the paper "A Comparison of Four Vowel Overlap Measures". The files contained are the code for the vowel overlap measures (soam.R, aposteriori.R, voach.R), the code for plotting the vowel overlap measures (plot.soam.R, plot.aposteriori.R, plot.voach.R), the code for running the simulations in the paper (paper2d.R, paper3d.R), the markup for the paper (vowels.Rnw), the bibliography (references.bib,zip), and the Hillenbrand et al. (1995) data that was used for the simulations (vowdata.dat). Note that the code for calculating the Pillai score is built into R, but examples can be seen in the paper2d.R and paper3d.R files. Similarly, because the HE-plot used to visualize the Pillai score was came from a package, there is not a separate script for that plotting functionality; an example may be seen in the vowels.Rnw files, however. Please also note that Alicia Beckford Wassink graciously assisted with implementing the code for SOAM in the soam.R file and should be included in the citation if the soam.R code is used in a paper.
