A brief examination of the ways drones are being used in information workplaces in the United States, as well as a speculative look at future applications. By examining both scholarly articles and current news, I have brought together a description of military and recreational use of drones, an overview of current applications of drone technology in both public and academic libraries, and some of the key challenges facing further development and use of drones in these and other settings. This is followed by a speculative look at the ways in which drones can be applied to library settings in the future.
