Introduction to the FAST System and the ADL Language

• Technical report TR03-18. The Flexible Architecture Simulation Tool (FAST) and the Architecture Description Language (ADL) form a toolset that can be used for rapid prototyping of new processor architectures. This document provides an overview of how to use FAST, and an in-depth look at how to write an architecture description in ADL. The examples presented are centered around the MIPS RISC architecture. At first a single-stage MIPS architecture is presented, and then the remainder of the examples are centered around a simplified MIPS R2000/R3000 architecture. | TRID-ID TR03-18
