This report represents an initial step in the process of setting specific water quality objectives. It is limited to a basic set of quality indicators and only to specific sites along the river’s mainstem. Future work could address a wider range of indicators and include more river sites, including key tributaries. The broadly‐based CCME, PPWB and AENV guideline values were reviewed for each water quality indicator to identify concentration limits that would protect the most sensitive water use known for selected sites on the NSR. Current measured concentrations for each indicator, based on statistical analysis of the last 20 years of data, were then compared to these values. (As cited in overview.)
