Take a Hike

  • Author(s) / Creator(s)
  • There was a time when shopping for a pair of hiking socks was a simple matter. For warm weather hiking, you would probably pick a thin athletic sock made from cotton or synthetic fibers. If it was winter, you would buy a thick pair of socks, probably
wool, and hope they wouldn’t be scratchy.
Meanwhile, if bulk from the sock caused your boot to feel too tight, you would loosen the ties. In addition, before going for a long hike, a serious hiker would probably wrap his or her heels, bunions, and maybe even toes with waterproof first aid tape to help prevent blisters, or throw some lamb’s wool into the heel well or boot toe for good measure.
Blisters, after all, were an inevitable part of any hike. But that has changed.
