St. Petersburg's canals provide a viable water-based transportation system. In addition to the tour boats, on the water, there were also personal watercraft moored along the canals. Mallard ducks can be seen near the back of the boats. In the background several applications of cast iron railings can be seen. The canal is fenced with a decorative cast iron panels between concrete posts. On the building to the left of the image, the balcony railings are a combination of metal poles and cast iron mesh, while the window are protected by grilles. The building in the right of the background has a decorative roof-line cast-iron railing.
