Drugs and Speech-Language Pathology

Drugs can affect speech-language pathology assessment and treatment, yet speech-language pathologists (SLPs) typically have limited experience considering the effects of medications on their work with clients.
The aim of this project was to create a resource to help SLPs consider, as part of a comprehensive needs assessment, how drugs might affect their clients. The format of the final resource evolved in consideration of how it would be used and the availability of resources required to create it. The product is an information document with three objectives: to raise awareness among SLPs about the potential impact of drugs on their practice; to provide SLPs with strategies for addressing drug impacts in therapy; and to facilitate interprofessional collaboration between SLPs and pharmacists. -
