The Science Behind Fabric Durability

Textile durability is a complex concept. One definition of “durability” is “The ability of a fabric to resist wear through continual use.”1 However, it is more helpful to understand textile durability as a result of the interaction among multiple factors.
According to Richard Slomko, director at Atlas Material Testing Technology, “Durability can generally be defined as maintaining some desired property or required attributes
at an acceptable level for some period of time. This not only applies to lightfastness and weathering tests, but also other stressors as well.” -
