Beyond staff picks: digital discovery in public libraries.

  • Author(s) / Creator(s)
  • Discovery is a growing trend in libraries, involving elements such as metadata, collections, user experience, web design, and marketing into one seamless and enjoyable customer experience. How can we make our great stuff easier for users to discover? This session is a multi-faceted examination of content discovery in public libraries. We will explore virtual bookshelves, interactive reader's advisory widgets, and new ways to map the library for wayfinding. Drawing on theory and practice of content discovery in public and commercial environments, we position discovery along the digital-physical scale that most of us inhabit in our daily lives.
