Images of Research Competition 2024

In 2024, University of Alberta graduate students made 77 submissions to the Images of Research Competition. The submissions illustrated that graduate student research at U of A spans diverse contexts and disciplines, showcasing how knowledge translation bridges diverse fields of study and broadens our understanding. Students' work exemplified their ingenuity and depth by exploring the intricacies of cultural identities, the social isolation of persevering graduate students, new paleontological finds, and the challenges of paternal postpartum depression, to name only a few. Further, they underscored the creative talent of U of A graduate students in producing images that capture the essence of their research. A multi-disciplinary five-person adjudication committee reviewed all submissions and selected winners. Additionally, the community voted for the People's Choice Award, and the winning image garnered 217 out of 2223 votes. The winning and semifinalist images from the Images of Research exhibition are now available in ERA, the University of Alberta’s digital repository.
