The Circumpolar Digital Image Collection is a collection of photos, slides, other images and contributions shared by many of the University of Alberta’s polar researchers. Sointula or "place of harmony" was a Finnish utopian community established in 1901 on Malcolm Island, near the northeast coast of Vancouver Island. These two halls provided the community a with a place to meet, exercise and to perform theatrical and musical works.

This sign on Yukon Drive on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus warns drivers of the speed limit (20 miles per hour) and informs drivers of the speed of their vehicles. The vehicle speed display is powered by a solar panel on the top of the sign.
