This sculpture was created by Alain Iyerak in 1970. It is made from a single vertebra of a bowhead whale. The vertebra had to dry for 100 years to be used for carving. The carving is housed on the upper level of the NWT Legislative Assembly Building.

The Caucus Room of the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories is circular and has remarkable acoustics, so that even whispers can be heard. Along the back wall of the room are nine paintings of mines in the NWT by Group of Seven artist A.Y. Jackson.

This columnar oak walk leads from an entrance at the bottom of the hill up to the tea house and glass houses in the centre of the Botanic Garden in Oslo. There were a few dried oak leaves on the trees.

The common cattail grows along the edges of lakes. It has been used as a traditional food, both the green flower spike (shown in this image), the core, the root and the seeds are all edible.
