Spring 2013
In this thesis we study operator ideals on ordered Banach spaces such as Banach lattices, $C^*$-algebras, and noncommutative function spaces. The first part of this work is concerned with the domination problem: the relationship between order and algebraic ideals of operators. Fremlin, Dodds and...

A Bayesian Joint Model Framework for Repeated Matrix-Variate Regression with Measurement Error Correction
DownloadSpring 2021
In this thesis, with the purpose of correcting for potential measurement errors in repeatedly-observed matrix-valued surrogates, and examining the underlying association between latent matrix covariates and a binary response, we propose a Bayesian joint model framework. This joint model method...

A Coarse-Grained Simulation Framework to Study Polyethylenimine-DNA Nanoparticles in Gene Delivery
DownloadSpring 2022
Cellular DNAs contain genetic information vital for the functioning of the cells. Corruption of this information, or genetic disorders, can lead to various diseases. A potential treatment is to deliver exogenous DNAs with the correct genetic information to malignant cells to achieve a...

Spring 2023
With rising demands in industry for reliable electrical cable distribution networks comes an inherent need for utility providers to know well the condition of the assets in their network. Heightened expectations from regulators and consumers require methods of reliability assessment to improve...

Fall 2023
It is well known that long-chain polymers and surfactants can significantly reduce the skin-friction drag of turbulent liquid flows; a phenomenon often referred to as rheological drag reduction. However, it is unclear if the mechanism for drag reduction is common among different types of polymers...

A Data-Driven Neural Network Model to Correct Derived Features in a RANS-Based Simulation of the Flow Around a Sharp-Edge Bluff Body
DownloadSpring 2023
In this dissertation, a machine-learning method is utilized to enhance the accuracy of wake parameters calculated by Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes (RANS) k-ω SST model of flow on and around wall-mounted rectangular cylinders. Using high-quality results from Large Eddy Simulation (LES), this...

Spring 2014
We introduce two kinds of particle filters, one is weighted particle filter and the other is resampling particle filter. We prove the Strong Law of Large Numbers and Central Limit Theorem for both particle filters. Then, we show that the resampling particle filter is better than the weighted one.

A Framework of Occupational Safety Hazard Analysis and Control to Support Enterprise Health and Safety Information Digitalization
DownloadSpring 2023
Occupational safety hazards and risk management in construction industry are major worldwide concerns due to its unique dynamic nature of the working environment. Safety related documentations such as industry injury reports, physical demands analysis (PDA) and standard operating procedures (SOP)...
