This decommissioned ERA site remains active temporarily to support our final migration steps to https://ualberta.scholaris.ca, ERA's new home. All new collections and items, including Spring 2025 theses, are at that site. For assistance, please contact erahelp@ualberta.ca.
Theses and Dissertations
This collection contains theses and dissertations of graduate students of the University of Alberta. The collection contains a very large number of theses electronically available that were granted from 1947 to 2009, 90% of theses granted from 2009-2014, and 100% of theses granted from April 2014 to the present (as long as the theses are not under temporary embargo by agreement with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies). IMPORTANT NOTE: To conduct a comprehensive search of all UofA theses granted and in University of Alberta Libraries collections, search the library catalogue at www.library.ualberta.ca - you may search by Author, Title, Keyword, or search by Department.
To retrieve all theses and dissertations associated with a specific department from the library catalogue, choose 'Advanced' and keyword search "university of alberta dept of english" OR "university of alberta department of english" (for example). Past graduates who wish to have their thesis or dissertation added to this collection can contact us at erahelp@ualberta.ca.

In this thesis, we explore the relationship between graphical representations of the 1-dimensional N-extended supersymmetry algebra called Adinkras, compact Riemann surfaces, and quivers. An Adinkra is a graph which was originated in physics to study off-shell representations of the supersymmetry...

The formalism of variations of local systems is applied in a geometric setting to define a notion of geometric variation of local systems; this provides a natural framework with which to study families of fibrations of Kahler manifolds. We apply this formalism in various contexts, starting with...

One of the main difficulties in extending Macdonald’s theory of spherical functions from p-adic Chevalley groups to p-adic Kac-Moody groups is the absence of Haar measure in the infinite dimensional case. Related to this problem is the question of how to generalize the integral defining...

Global dynamics of diffusive animal movement models under habitat degradation, destruction, and fragmentation: eigenvalue problems and geometry at the landscape scale
DownloadFall 2023
Habitat loss is a significant problem and the leading cause of species extinctions and decreases in biodiversity worldwide. This issue is primarily driven by human activities, making it crucial to understand the consequences of our actions as a global community. The empirical study of habitat...

The thesis consists of two closely related parts: (i) Cesaro summability of the spherical h-harmonic expansions on the unit sphere, and (ii) Bochner-Riesz summability of the inverse Dunkl transforms on d-dimensional real space, both being studied with respect to the weight that is invariant under...

Heegner points on modular curves play a key role in the solution of Hilbert’s twelfth problem for qua- dratic imaginary fields, as well as the proof of the Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture for the case ords=1 L(E, s) ≤ 1. The relationship between Heegner points and Hilbert’s twelfth is...
