Grant Assist Program (Social Sciences / Humanities)

The Grant Assist Program is an initiative of the Office of the Vice-President (Research) and comprises three support streams targeting success with each of the three national research funding agencies: SSHRC, NSERC and CIHR. The GAP SSHRC communities in ERA offer easy access to successful grant proposals, workshop materials and other resources relevant to enabling success in applications to competitions sponsored by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council. Similar communities are established for the GAP NSERC and GAP CIHR. The documents in the GAP SSHRC community are keyword tagged. See below for a listing of preferred keywords. The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada funds several grant competitions. The competitions supported by the Grants Assist Program are: Insight Development Grant (IDG), Insight Grant (IG), Partnership Development Grant (PDG) and the two stage Partnership Grant (PG). Support from the Office of the vice-President(Research) for grant applicants includes: 1 on 1 mentoring in research design and grant strategy; information panels; workshops; access to casual research assistants and professional editors; bridge funding and more. Academic publications and trade articles on the genre of writing associated with research proposals, grant applications, funding-seeking, and the process sometimes referred to as 'grantsmanship' are deposited in the Collection entitled "Readings (SSHRC)".     Description: Materials retained in this repository of successful SSHRC grants are for the sole use of University of Alberta scholars applying to SSHRC grant and fellowship competitions. The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada funds several grant competitions. The competitions supported by the Grant Assist Program (SS&H) are: Insight Development Grant (IDG), Insight Grant (IG), Partnership Development Grant (PDG) and the two stage Partnership Grant (PG). All successful grant applicants are encouraged to deposit a copy of their SSHRC application here, for the empowerment of your colleagues.
